Ingredients

2/3 cup butter, melted
1 egg
1/3 cup milk
1 1/2 cups flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/4 cups quick oats
1/2 cup chopped dried fruit of your choice

Directions

Grease a cookie sheet with shortening.

Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, cream of tartar, salt, oats and dried fruit in a large bowl. In another bowl, combine melted butter, egg, and milk. Stir the egg mixture into the dry ingredients, then stir in the dried fruit till all is just moist.

Shape into 2 balls (by hand) on a floured surface and flatten down to 2 (1 inch thick) rounds. With a spatula, place 3 inches apart on the greased cookie sheet. Cut each round into 6 wedges (without separating them) with a floured knife.

Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes or until golden on the bottom.

Serve warm with your favorite jam & butter!

Quran burning

A Florida pastor says he is likely to burn copies of the Quran on September 11th. Gen. David Petraeus says the action could endanger US troops. The pastor says he's just standing up to radical Islam. What do you think of the idea?

  • A stupid idea. His symbolic protest puts real soldiers in danger, and shows the world we practice the same intolerance we condemn in our enemy.
  • A great idea. We need to spend less time worrying about whether our enemies in this war might be offended. If this is how he chooses to express himself, I'm all for it.
  • Not sure.
