Hasti Taghi

By Lori Quigley

Hasti joins the KIDK news team all the way from Texas and is thrilled to start reporting here in Idaho where she can enjoy the four seasons and learn about the culture of the northwest.

Born and raised in the Middle East, Hasti moved to the States when she was 10 and quickly learned English with hopes of following her dreams of television reporting in the land of free speech and press. Hasti Attended the University
of Texas at Austin where she graduated with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and a concentration in government. There she volunteered with KVR news, co-hosted the longhorn pulse, interned at KXAN NBC-news and News 8 Austin and was the Vice President for the Society of Professional Journalists... but her favorite college tv experience: reporting, producing, and anchoring with her
favorite college news team, Texas Newswatch! It showed her that the time-consuming, stressful world of TV news can also be fun and satisfying.

Hasti loves to travel the world and enjoys learning new languages and experiencing new cultures. She is trilingual, speaking Farsi, French and English and hopes to soon learn Spanish and Italian. Her favorite travel adventure was studying abroad in the French Riviera and time spent in her favorite city in the world, Paris, France! Her favorite vacation spot in the
States is Santa Barbara, California where her mom's family resides.

Besides traveling and reporting, Hasti loves cooking, decorating, photography, yoga, tennis, fashion and ballet. She lives by three words, "Live, Laugh, Love" and the phrase, "You've got to get up every morning with a smile on your face
and show the world all the love in your heart."

Her goal as a reporter is to open up people's eyes to the world around them and minimize prejudice one story at a time. Hasti dreams of one day reporting internationally and politically for CNN and eventually anchoring one of the network morning shows. Her tv role models are Oprah, Ann Curry, Diane Sawyer, Natalie Morales, and Christiane Amanpour.

What she'll miss most about Texas? Tea time with her mom, sports games with her dad, any time she gets with her brother, her wonderfully large and close-knit extended family, her fabulous friends as well as game days in Austin! A proud
UT Longhorn, you can be sure to spot her in full longhorn gear whenever her team is playing. Be sure to e-mail her your story ideas or just let her know how she's doing by e-mail at Htaghi@kidk.com.
