Rick Montañez

Rick Montañez

Rick joined the Channel 3 Eyewitness News Team in January 2007. Since then, he's covered stories ranging from wild fires in East Idaho, to the Larry Craig Scandal, and a deadly high speed chase in Idaho Falls. But, Rick also has fun telling the 'good' stories about Idaho's residents. A few favorites include meeting two women who have lived for more than 100 years, one of which has the same birthday as Rick.

He came from Los Angeles, California. While in LA, Rick worked at KABC-TV as a News Assistant. He grew up in Montebello, California and graduated from the University of La Verne, in La Verne, California, with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. While at KABC, Rick worked behind the scenes, covering events like the London Terror Plot at the Los Angeles International Airport.

From a very young age Rick was intrigued with TV news. While at ULV, Rick spent a semester working as a reporter for 107.9 KULV-FM. Later, Rick spent two years reporting for LVTV-3. And created 'Wake Up La Verne', a morning show, as part of his senior project. Rick also spent time as a reporter and assistant editor for ULV's nationally recognized newspaper, 'The Campus Times', and he was one of two reporters to do video stories for the newspaper's website.

Rick did all this while being an active member in the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He also spent nearly 6 years working at In-N-Out Burger, a famous drive-thru restaurant in Southern California.

He enjoys telling people's stories, and being able to keep the community informed.

Rick is enjoying his life here in Idaho, and loves to hear from you! If you have any concerns, ideas or just want to say 'hi' you can email rick at rickm@kidk.com
